The other day I was searching for my house keys. I began to scour my house in a mad dash sort of fashion. I couldn't find them. I found other sets of non-functional keys, but not what I was looking for. Finally, I decided to put everything in my hands on the counter because I was going to start the serious search.
In that moment, I realized the keys I was frantically looking for were already in my hand. Here's the ironic thing, after grabbing my phone and a couple of other items, I forgot where the keys were, and my search began again. Yes... the keys were in my hand. I never put them down. While I am human enough to laugh at myself, there is a lesson in my act of humanity.
How often is what we have need of hidden in plain sight? How many times do we search for the keys to the kingdom of God not recognizing that they are already in our hand? All authority has been given to us. Jesus said that whatever we bind on earth will be bound in heaven. So, whatever I use my keys to lock up on earth, it will be locked up in heaven. Jesus also said that what I loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Therefore, whatever I use my keys to release in the earth, it will be released in heaven.
What are my keys? My voice creates the structure of the key as I use the living word of God. My words don't create the key. God's word (the Bible) create the key. Faith turns the key to either lock or unlock, depending on the need.
What you have need of is already in your possession. If you believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, then the Holy Spirit lives within you. The creative force that created the heavens and the earth and raised Jesus from the dead chose the itty, bitty living space of our lives. When we couple our faith with His words, things begin to happen. Things begin to move and shift to create the very thing we've asked of Him.
Will we get an immediate answer? Define immediate. When you want a baby, it takes time to conceive. Once you've conceived, you have a baby. You can't hold it yet. It's still developing. You've got to wait another 7 - 9 months till you can tangibly hold your baby.
What are you asking God for? What are you using your voice to create and lock or unlock? What is developing in front of you that is hidden in plain sight? Some women don't show their pregnancies for months. Just because we can't see it doesn't make the conception any less real. We don't keep asking for a baby once we've conceived. At that point, we begin to thank God for the baby. Maybe it's time to stop asking and start thanking.
